Afterfall
By BDLoneR
Survive an outbreak through narrative choices, community exploration and clues. Travel costs time and energy, with permadeath described by the developer.
AFTERFALL is a choice-driven narrative survival game set in Bangkok and its surroundings after an outbreak. Choose a character background, read each situation, and decide whether to explore, search for supplies, rest or travel. The aim is to stay alive while following survivors’ stories, rather than directly steering a character around enemies.
Listening to the radio brings clues—and costs time
Our session began in the rainy Rom Sai settlement, with quiet buildings behind meters for health, hunger, thirst, energy, stress and infection. We chose the traffic-police background. Listening to the emergency radio revealed a warning to avoid main roads and a clue involving M-7. Five in-game minutes passed, while stress dropped by three points.
Exploration gives you a trail to follow
Exploring the settlement took 44 in-game minutes and five energy before Aunt Sai asked about missing seeds. Accepting brought one can of fish and a lead pointing to the forest watchtower. We travelled through the market to the tower; each half-kilometre leg took nine minutes. Another exploration revealed dragged-sack tracks and a notebook pointing towards an underground shelter.

The map opens as you travel
The map distinguishes known locations from unexplored areas. After visiting the settlement, market and watchtower, the counter showed three visited locations and four known destinations. Travel was unavailable until the current encounter was resolved. Discovering clues and moving between locations are connected; you cannot simply jump to any destination immediately.

One life, with consequences to consider
The official site describes permanent character death, d20 turn-based combat, bases, vehicles, survivor companions and co-op for up to four players. This session covered narrative choices, exploration, accepting a quest and travelling—not combat or multiplayer. What was clear in play was that actions consumed time and energy while hunger and thirst gradually rose.
It suits players who enjoy reading encounters, planning supplies and following clues one step at a time. It runs in a browser without installation. Guest progress is tied to that browser, so avoid clearing its data if you want to retain your progress.
