By GameSlash

WSJ and Reuters report that Amazon is negotiating to acquire Decart for around $7 billion. Decart makes Oasis interactive world models and Lucy real-time video AI; no deal is confirmed.

News reported on October 11–12, 2026 says Amazon is in talks to acquire AI startup Decart in a deal potentially worth approximately $7 billion. The Wall Street Journal first reported the talks, and Reuters and Bloomberg carried follow-up reports. This is a negotiation, not a completed acquisition: neither a final price nor an agreement has been confirmed.

Why game developers are watching the company

Decart's technology is broader than gaming: its DOS stack optimizes model inference across AI chips, while its world-model research powers real-time generated experiences. The early Oasis demonstration became known for an interactive, Minecraft-like world whose imagery responds as a player moves, rather than relying on a conventional prebuilt game environment.

The company's newer Oasis models target simulation for robotics and autonomous systems, and Lucy targets real-time video transformation. These capabilities may inform future interactive games, but Decart has not announced a partnership with Amazon's game studios or promised a new Amazon gaming platform.

What this means for games and AI

The report notes that Decart attracted backing from major investors including Nvidia and was previously valued around $4 billion in May. Amazon also operates its Trainium AI chip business, so Decart's efficiency software may matter just as much to the buyer as the headline-grabbing world models. Treat any gaming implications as analysis rather than an announced acquisition strategy.
