NVIDIA DLSS 5 gets a 2x faster AI model; NBA 2K27 update lands October 16
By GameSlash
NVIDIA says its revised DLSS 5 neural renderer halves GPU overhead, cuts 4K VRAM use by 20%, and is coming to NBA 2K27, Hogwarts Legacy and RTX Remix.
On October 13, 2026, NVIDIA announced a faster DLSS 5 3D-Guided Neural Rendering model, new game integrations and a Frame Generation beta option. NBA 2K27 will receive the optimized model on October 16; Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet are next. Full details: NVIDIA's official announcement.

What NVIDIA actually made faster
NVIDIA says the updated neural-rendering model runs twice as fast as the September version. It has about 118 million parameters after a 24% reduction, uses 20% less VRAM at 4K, and halves the GPU overhead of the neural-rendering step while keeping comparable image quality. The company also describes the model as ten times faster than its March announcement version. These are NVIDIA's measurements, not independent benchmarks.
NBA 2K27 gets the update October 16
The company says NBA 2K27 is scheduled to receive the model on October 16 for GeForce RTX 50 Series hardware, RTX Spark laptops and GeForce NOW. NVIDIA claims frame-rate gains of up to 1.4 times; the model becoming twice as fast does not mean the entire game runs at double the frame rate.
New DLSS 5 previews for Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet
Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled to add DLSS 5 neural rendering on November 5, with Avalanche Software tuning the controls to preserve the game's art direction. NVIDIA says Where Winds Meet is planned for late November. The company published in-game ON/OFF comparisons; the images here show its ON state and are not proof of our own testing.

RTX Remix adds DLSS 5 on October 23
The RTX Remix modding toolkit is due to add DLSS 5 and the new Frame Generation performance mode on October 23. In NVIDIA's preview, modders demonstrated updated material and lighting effects in in-development Fallout 4 RTX and Mirror's Edge RTX projects; these are mod demonstrations, not announcements of commercial remasters.

A separate Frame Generation beta is available now
The NVIDIA app beta released October 13 adds a Frame Generation Performance Mode called Preset C for supported RTX 40 and RTX 50 Series GPUs and RTX Spark laptops. NVIDIA cites up to a 35% speedup on an RTX 5060 for this mode, with minor image-quality trade-offs. This is a different feature from the DLSS 5 neural-rendering model update.
