PixelForge Adds MCPB Release Pipeline for AI-Powered Pixel Art Creation

By GameSlash

PixelForge's October 11 update adds MCPB packaging, automated tests and a controlled MCP Registry publishing workflow for its AI-agent-friendly sprite toolkit.

Open-source pixel-art toolkit PixelForge added an MCPB packaging and release workflow in an October 11, 2026 commit. The change supplies an MCP server manifest, reproducible bundle builds, automated checks and a controlled GitHub OIDC publishing route. It does not on its own prove that a public registry listing or new packaged release is already live.

PixelForge generates sprites, sprite sheets and animations from editable JSON recipes instead of relying on an image-generation service. Its local studio lets creators inspect palettes, frames and animations, while AI coding agents can use its MCP interface to request and edit assets.

The new bundle verifier unpacks the distributable and tests MCP tool discovery, help, rendering, importing and scene exporting. The release workflow will validate and attach bundles when a version tag is created; registry publication remains a separate controlled action.

The project also includes the browser-playable local Emberfall platformer demo and the Tidewatch top-down showcase. These existing demos illustrate the sprite pipeline; they are not new games launched with the October 11 commit.
