Anime Tower Defense Universe

By Whatchara Promchai

An anime-themed Tower Defense game. Place characters beside the path, divide money between new units and upgrades, and select attack targets. Offline mode lets you start without an account.

Anime Tower Defense Universe is a Tower Defense game featuring characters such as Naruto, Ichigo, and Toshiro in a base-defense style. Enemies advance along roads in waves, while players choose where to place characters and use money to reinforce forces between levels. The fun lies in identifying which sections of the path cannot yet withstand enemy attacks and deciding whether to add a new unit or upgrade an existing one.

Position the characters to cover the route.

Level 1-1 features a winding road through the grassy field leading to the base, with a total of 11 enemy waves. Deployment begins by selecting character cards and then choosing roadside positions. Upon tapping an already-deployed character, their attack range indicator appears; check which segments of the road this range covers. Characters will attack enemies entering their range, so the player's role is to arrange defensive lines and adjust forces to match the situation.

Naruto, Ichigo, and Toshiro are three characters on the path in Wave 2/11 of Anime Tower Defense Universe while base power is still 140.
Characters are placed on the roadside grass, selecting positions along the desired road segment to assist in defense.

Add characters or upgrade existing ones

Each character type has different deployment costs, and the same type can be placed multiple times; therefore, funds must be allocated between expanding defensive coverage and strengthening existing units. Upgrading Naruto from level 1 to level 2 increases attack power from 22 to 30, extends range, and reduces attack cooldown.

The character panel also includes target options for front, back, strongest, and nearest, allowing aim order to be adjusted according to character roles. Target selection is on the same panel as status values and upgrade buttons, enabling attack range visualization and defensive line adjustment from a single point.

Adjust your defenses during the battle.

The game features a double-speed button that helps reduce the time spent watching enemies pass the defense line, but while the character panel is open, combat continues and the panel occupies a significant portion of the lower screen. Reading status values or selecting upgrades therefore requires keeping an eye on the battlefield simultaneously. This aspect may frustrate players who prefer to pause and consider details one by one.

Suitable for those who like to adjust defensive plans.

Anime Tower Defense Universe offers fairly granular options for customizing defenses, including placement selection and character adjustments between waves. Attack range and stat values help clarify these choices, making it suitable for those who enjoy arranging defenses and observing results before addressing weaknesses, particularly fans familiar with anime characters in the team. The Offline mode can be accessed via the website without requiring an account. This opinion is based on playthrough of Stage 1-1 in that mode.
