Boundless AI Fantasy adds MCP editor post-launch, enabling agents to help create campaigns.

Post-launch updates since September 11, covering bug fixes for model loading, game data creation tools, and the ongoing Living World development plan.
Boundless AI Fantasy was released on Steam on September 11, 2026, and developer João Vitor Andrioli de Souza summarized post-launch fixes in a post dated September 20. A key turning point was the September 19 update, which added tools allowing external AI agents to assist in creating and modifying game data.
The game is an RPG that allows players to define the world, characters, locations, and campaigns via an editor; then, a language model uses this data to narrate and interact during gameplay. Upon entering combat, the game switches to an isometric grid-based field for positioning and turn-based skill usage. The AI model runs on the player's machine, and the Steam page states that no subscription or API key is required.

After release, the developer issued a hotfix on the first day to fix a llama.cpp bug that prevented some players from loading the AI system, and adjusted Linux compatibility via Proton on September 12. A September 14 update followed to fix line breaks in text, add campaign loading status, and ensure models stop completely when returning to the main menu instead of continuing to run in the background.
The MCP tool added on September 19 allows agents like Claude or Codex to connect to an editor to create characters, skills, locations, maps, quests, and campaigns. Developers state it is intended for use with agents on the same machine and is designed for managing this data, not for role-playing during gameplay. Advanced users can tune llama.cpp settings via the llama-config.json file, including context size, thread count, and GPU usage.

The same announcement also mentioned the Living World Update, which is currently being planned, such as party management and character or location creation from the Living World narrative. The Living World is still being planned and may change.
