Soko

By jojoee

A Sokoban-style browser puzzle about pushing boxes onto targets while leaving room to move around them. Explore a 50-level demo with undo, level selection and move-count results.

The box is right in front of you and its target is only a few squares away—but push from the wrong side and the route needs another look. Soko by jojoee strips the Sokoban-style puzzle down to a board, walls, boxes and a player, keeping attention on one question: how do you move every box onto a target?

Leave yourself room to get behind the box

Walking into a box pushes it one square. Planning means leaving space to walk around and approach it from another side before changing direction. Even one wall in the middle of a room can turn a straightforward push into a question of move order.

Level 2 starts with a box near the lower-right corner, a target towards the upper left and an obstacle in the centre. The surrounding open squares offer several approaches, but you still need to preserve room for the player to reposition.

More boxes—or less room—change the problem

Soko level 3 has two boxes and two targets on opposite sides of a pair of central walls

Level 3 adds a second box, alternating boxes and targets on opposite sides of two central walls. Finishing the first box is only part of the job: you need to leave a walking route to approach the second. Thinking about the next repositioning matters more than concentrating only on the nearest box.

Soko level 4 has a small three-by-three interior, a central box and a target in the lower-left corner

Level 4 returns to a single box but reduces the interior to three by three squares. With the target against the lower-left corner, the question is where the player must stand to send the box into place. The small room is easy to read at a glance, but also leaves less space to recover your route.

Take your time, then undo a step

Move with the arrow keys or W/A/S/D, press Q to undo and R to restart the level. There is little benefit in rushing through inputs: pausing to examine the board makes the next approach easier to plan.

The game presents a 50-level demo, with level selection and achievements. Finishing a puzzle shows your move count and earned stars, offering both a route through the levels and a reason to revisit an earlier solution.

The simple colour-coded board keeps boxes, targets and the player easy to distinguish. It is a browser puzzle for short, deliberate sessions, with undo making it straightforward to explore a different approach.
