CAT FLAP launches with a free browser demo: identify your cat or lock out an impostor
By GameSlash
Released on November 4, CAT FLAP lets players inspect visiting cats in a free browser demo. Its creator discloses AI-assisted development while drawing visuals and synthesizing sound in code.
On November 4, 2026 at 03:12 UTC, raxeris released CAT FLAP on itch.io, alongside a free browser demo. The horror-comedy game turns a familiar worry into a decision: a cat has returned home, but is it really yours? Inspect its stripes, paws and reactions before choosing OPEN or LOCK.

What is playable for free?
The browser demo covers the introduction (Day 0) and Nights 1–2. Players name their cat, pick a collar, photograph it for reference and then check visitors at the flap. Light, treats, calls and comparisons with the fridge photo reveal differences. The developer says every fake has a discoverable tell rather than requiring a random guess.

What changes in the paid game?
The complete $2.99 download adds Nights 3–7, six endings, Endless Nights and a daily challenge. According to the developer, an initial cat can vary in coat, stripes, eyes, tail, ears and toes, before the collar is selected. The demo can run in a browser on desktop and phone; the complete version is a separate download for supported systems.

Where did AI help build it?
The itch.io AI disclosure marks assistance in code, graphics, sound and text. That should not be confused with image- or audio-model assets: raxeris explicitly says the pictures are drawn in code and sounds are made in code, without AI-generated artwork or recorded AI audio. The page lists twelve languages. GameSlash has not independently play-tested the game.
