Fortunes of Siam

By Dewkie So Live's

Manage a family in an Ayutthaya setting, balancing money, rice, market transactions and living costs as the calendar advances.

Fortunes of Siam puts players in charge of a family in an Ayutthaya setting, managing household members, provisions and treasury funds through a browser simulation. Buying and selling are only part of the decision: supplies also need to cover time passing. Shared for community testing by Dewkie So Live's, it begins with the question of how a household can sustain itself and grow.

Think beyond the sale

The opening state had 640 fueang and 24 units of rice. Selling sixteen rice brought in 48 fueang, followed by an occupation-related expense of sixteen. The two resource totals need to be read together rather than treating cash as the only measure.

Advancing from January 1 to January 31 of year one reduced money and rice by one each for living costs. Moving the calendar forward makes provisions part of maintaining the household, not merely stock to sell.

A town around the household

The town map connects the household to a market, temple, administrative office and junk pier, alongside other families' houses. The riverside illustration gives the locations a clear arrangement, while news and tasks remain beside the scene.

Pause and speed controls let players alternate between inspecting information and letting days advance. That fits a simulation built around considering resources rather than reacting quickly.

Read the market spread

Rice costs four fueang to buy but sells for three. Buying one in this session reduced money from 671 to 667 and increased rice from seven to eight. The market explains the difference at the transaction panel, making clear that immediately buying and selling back is not profitable.

The appeal lies in linking household life with accounts and time. It suits players who enjoy reading details, planning provisions and observing decisions over successive periods.
