Jelly Duel

By NickVirGO

Select cards and upgrade builds for Jelly before entering auto-battles in tournaments against bots.

Jelly Duel lets players build a jelly character for automatic battles. During preparation, spend coins on skill cards, then press ready to let the characters duel with the chosen skills. The Alpha Playtest supports Thai and matches against bots. This review covers a 6-jelly tournament, from the first duel into preparation for round 2.

Buy cards that match the jelly.

Characters have ability descriptions before play, such as NgamNgam's healing and biting moves. In the shop, divide coins between buying cards and rerolling the selection. Each card explains its effect, so read how it fits your character's abilities before spending all your money.

Purchasing duplicate copies of cards helps upgrade existing ones. Re-purchased cards display increased levels and higher Jelly HP, making encountering original cards still a beneficial option. During build setup, character data, shop cards, and equipped skills are all shown on a single screen, but the text is quite dense on the vertical space. Those who want to understand how each effect works together need to spend considerable time reading.

When ready to fight, the two jellies will attack each other. The screen displays a health bar, status icons, and damage and healing numbers to track. The fun lies in seeing how the chosen cards affect the outcome, then using that information to plan for the next round during preparation, rather than trying to press moves in time during the battle.

The forest scene and vibrant jelly colors make it easy to distinguish the two teams, while build details are shown in icons and a small info panel. Those who prefer to read numbers when building will find the data available, but it should be viewed on a screen where card text is easy to read.

One loss, and there's still another round to go.

The duel results distinguish combat HP from the hearts used to remain in the tournament. The first loss deducts some hearts, but the player can continue to round 2 with coins for a new build while combat HP refills completely. This gives a chance to change plans after seeing weaknesses in the original cards.

Jelly Duel suits players who enjoy choosing skills and watching their results each round. It is still being tested against bots; a full online system is a plan mentioned by the original poster. Players looking to compete with friends should check the mode's current status before playing.
