Journey to the West · Card RPG: Build a team for automatic battles
By PapaTom T Siri
A browser card RPG with Journey to the West characters, front- and back-row team slots, and automatic battles in beta 0.5.8.
Journey to the West · Card RPG is a browser-based card-collecting RPG by PapaTom T Siri. Characters from Journey to the West form a team for automatic, round-based battles. In beta 0.5.8, players follow health totals and skill activations during combat, then return to team setup before the next stage. Guest access lets players start without entering account details.
Arrange the front and back rows
A team holds one to five cards, with three front-row slots and two back-row slots. Tap a position, then choose the card to place there. The game explains that the front row is attacked first, so placement deserves attention alongside character stats, especially once more recruits become available.
Sun Wukong leads the opening team. Each card displays health, attack and defence beneath its character art. Mountain Monkey joins after the first stage, quickly moving the opening lineup from a lone hero to two front-row companions. Assessing the differences between fuller team compositions requires more play.

Follow skills as the battle unfolds
Stage 1-1, ยอดเขาศิลาแตก, pits Sun Wukong against a rice-stealing rat demon and a wild rabbit demon. Attacks proceed automatically in rounds, with skill names and damage numbers displayed on the battlefield. Wukong’s ขนวิเศษแยกร่าง and the rabbit’s เตะสองขา are two visible examples. Named attacks give the cards some character beyond their numerical stats.
The controls include 1x, 2x and Skip. Selecting 2x speeds up combat; normal speed leaves more time to read attacks and see who takes damage. The opening fight suits players who enjoy preparing characters and watching a battle resolve. Those looking for manual attack selection should know that characters act automatically here.

A clear stage adds a teammate
The first stage ties its result directly to team growth. The verified clear took seven rounds, earned three stars and left Wukong with 432 of 830 health. Mountain Monkey then joined the front row automatically, team power showed 490, and stage 1-2 unlocked. These are opening-battle results, not a measure of difficulty in later stages.

Gold-framed character cards sit against a mountain-and-waterfall backdrop in combat. The team screen uses dark green panels with clearly separated front and back positions. The game keeps a portrait layout in the middle of a wider screen, so it is worth checking text size on the device you intend to use.
For Journey to the West character collectors
Journey to the West · Card RPG provides an accessible opening for players interested in its characters and automatic team battles. The first stage completes a short loop of fighting, gaining a recruit and unlocking the next encounter. This review covers the opening of beta 0.5.8; team balance, long-term collecting and later-stage variety need further play to judge. The creator has invited card-collecting RPG fans to try the game through a post in AI Game Dev Thailand.
