Meshy retires T1: update low-poly asset pipelines to Smart Topology

By GameSlash

The October 30 retirement affects Text to 3D and Image to 3D API requests. Here are the replacement settings and the mesh checks game creators should keep.

If your game-asset pipeline still calls Meshy T1, check its API settings. Meshy retired T1 on October 30, 2026 for Text to 3D and Image to 3D; its documented replacement is Smart Topology with Meshy T2.5.

The settings to change

Replace model_type: "lowpoly" and ai_model: "meshy-t1" with model_type: "smart-topology" and ai_model: "meshy-t2.5". This is a retirement notice, not the launch of T2.5: that model joined the API on October 15.

T2.5 produces triangle-only meshes and accepts target_polycount from 100 to 30,000, with 15,000 as the default. Multi-Image to 3D does not support T2.5.

Check the mesh, not just the request

For creators automating prop production, the immediate job is to update old requests, then inspect the generated shape and polygon budget before importing assets. Meshy’s earlier cookbook illustrates why a face target is not an exact triangle count: its 1,000-target oak contains 1,096 triangles.
