TatarFamily Road Trip
By Tong Tulata
Drive through low-poly Japan at night with Lo-Fi music, overtake traffic, collect fuel and coffee, and choose the route to your next city.
TatarFamily Road Trip takes players onto Japan’s roads at night through a browser, pairing low-poly three-dimensional graphics with Lo-Fi music. Tong Tulata says it began with missing Japan and became a small family project inspired by Road Fighter and memories of past trips.

Overtake traffic, collect coffee and choose your next city
Overtaking cars increases your score. Fuel and coffee can be collected along the way, with coffee used for nitro. A horn from behind signals an approaching race car, so you need to change lanes to let it pass. Watching nearby traffic and collecting supplies are the main tasks while taking in the roads.
At junctions, staying in the left or right lane determines which city you visit next. Before setting off, players can choose a starting scene and car color. The game page lists eight Lo-Fi tracks, with each city having its own music.

Controls and who it may suit
On a keyboard, A/D steer and W/S increase or decrease speed. Hold B to brake and use Space for nitro. The screen also has BRAKE and BOOST buttons for touch controls. The creator says it can be played in a mobile browser without installing an app.
Players who enjoy retro visuals and nighttime roads can drive for the scenery while chasing a score. Branching routes and city choices provide destinations along the way, with each city’s music forming part of the trip.
Where to play
Information as of 11 October 2026 comes from the creator’s post and the in-game instructions. A WebGL context error prevented an actual driving test, so the article uses images from the source. The creator notes that the project may still have rough edges.
