Earshot
By Leon Lin / Leonxlnx
An audio toolkit for coding agents to describe, compare, measure and refine sound effects before they are brought into a game.
Earshot gives coding agents audio-analysis tools through a CLI, Python API and MCP server. It can describe sounds, compare them with text prompts, find events in longer recordings, measure loudness and timing, and produce visual analysis sheets. Its forge workflow synthesizes effects in code and critiques the result.
How to use Install and configure the project using its README, then connect its MCP server to a compatible coding agent or use the CLI directly. Generate or supply an audio file, inspect it with Earshot, compare alternatives, listen yourself, and import the selected sound into your game engine.
Limitations The tool does not replace listening or automatically integrate audio into Unity or Godot. Core analysis runs locally on CPU; optional external-model features have separate setup and upload-consent requirements. The software is MIT-licensed, but rights to reference recordings and other supplied assets must be checked separately. This listing is based on documentation, not a hands-on audio test.
