Unity says AI aids game prototyping, but copying existing games lacks creativity.

By Gameslash Editorial

Matt Bromberg, Unity executive, explains Unity Spark's direction: game creators must still adjust work and make decisions, not just order AI to produce a finished game.

After Unity announced a partnership with Google to develop an AI game platform on October 7, 2026, executive Matt Bromberg emphasized that the Unity Spark tool should help creators experiment with ideas and continue developing games, not allow AI to copy games that others have already successfully created.

Unity Spark aims to enable game creation starting from text descriptions, with subsequent refinement using Unity tools. A closed beta is planned for 2026. The actual work still requires game system design, the feel of gameplay, and artistic decisions.

Executive statements describe the direction and scope of the technology, not a guarantee that anyone can create high-quality games from a single command.
