Vault Breaker

Try using the Knight to fight the Crypt Hound, fuse two Hack cards into Twin Blades, and launch a card reward selection feature in a dark pixel art roguelike game.

Vault Breaker is a dark pixel art roguelike card game. The in-game creator is Afreedomlife, and Worrawut FreedomLife shared the introduction. The creator cites Slay the Spire as an influence, adding card fusion and a wheel to combat. We played The Knight through the first battle to the reward screen.

Descend into the dungeon with a shield and a starter deck.

We play as a visitor without creating an account, select The Knight with Old Shield and Health Potion, and begin in the Upper Crypt of The Vault. The first floor's map divides rooms to choose for progression, such as Fight, Elite, Rest, and Treasure. In the combat trials, we encountered two Crypt Hounds.

Knight faces two Crypt Hounds with cards in hand and 3 energy units.
Real combat in the Upper Crypt of The Vault's first floor displays enemies, hand cards, and gameplay data.

Knights and enemies are positioned at the top of the screen, while cards in hand are displayed at the bottom. Energy and an end-turn button are separated on the right. We attempt to use Hack to attack, followed by Shield Toss and Shield Bash, which provide both damage and defense. Card names and status above the enemy help track how remaining energy is spent.

Two hacks combined into Twin Blades

When we have two Hack cards in hand, we select both until the Twin Blades bar appears. This bar indicates a two-energy cost and 1.25x damage multiplier before pressing Fuse! to see the effect of pairing cards before fusing them.

Two Hack cards selected for fusion into Twin Blades during combat with Crypt Hound.
Selecting the two Hack cards opens the Twin Blades, which specifies an energy cost of 2 and a damage multiplier of 1.25 before pressing Fuse!

The fusion we tested defeated the final Crypt Hound and ended combat. This encourages considering cards as combinations rather than separately. We have not assessed the wheel's difficulty or achieved Perfect timing, so cannot judge how easily the combo will work in later stages.

Win, then choose how to expand your deck

After winning the game, open the reward screen and choose to add one of Crushing Blow, Recollection, or Fortress, or skip to receive an additional ten gold. The screen displays full descriptions for all three cards, allowing comparison between increased damage, drawing cards from the discard pile, and gaining defense every turn.

Post-victory reward screen offers choices: Crushing Blow, Recollection, and Fortress cards.
After defeating both Crypt Hounds, players reveal the reward seal and choose one extra card, or skip it for gold.

We reach this options screen with 61/80 HP and 124 gold, having not yet confirmed any card into the deck. The test covers the first battle and rewards, has not yet reached the boss, played through the entire area, tried another character, or tested on mobile.

Enter to play and return to the same round.

Playable via web as a guest without account registration during trial. Upon returning to the website, a "Continue run" button allows resuming from the last session and returning to the original reward screen. Saving via account or cross-device functionality has not been tested.
