Unity Localization: Quick Start

By Unity Technologies

Start Unity localization with locales, string tables and localized assets.

The French locale selects the menu.play entry in a string table and a localized binding displays Jouer. English and Spanish locale choices are shown as alternatives.

Use it for: Bilingual menus, item-count text and language-specific media.

Start: 1) Create Localization Settings and locales. 2) Add one String Table entry. 3) Bind it with Localize String for your UI setup and switch locales.

A string table maps menu.play to Play or Jouer, while an asset table maps voice.greeting to separate English and French audio references.
Words and media are localized through different table types. All keys and asset names are illustrative. Original explanatory artwork prepared for GameSlash with AI assistance. Documentation is credited as the factual source only; no source imagery reused. Concept source

Try checking: Long text, Thai glyphs and zero/one/many counts, then repeat in a player build.

Limits: The example uses UGUI Text; adapt bindings for TMP or other UI systems. Localized assets in a player require an Addressables content build.
