Unreal MCP — Epic Games

By Epic Games

Epic's Experimental in-editor MCP server for actor, lighting, material and UI operations and automation tests over local HTTP.

mcp

What it helps with

Let a coding agent work with actors, lighting, materials and tests through Unreal MCP in the Editor, instead of editing code without seeing the editor state.

Get started

The UE5.8 documentation uses Unreal MCP and All Toolsets plugins. Start with ModelContextProtocol.StartServer and generate the appropriate client configuration with ModelContextProtocol.GenerateClientConfig.

Limitations

Experimental, with changing APIs. Make sequential requests and keep access local: there is no authentication for exposing it to a network. Inspect results in the Editor and run tests.
