Arrange Three Kingdoms troops in Beginner mode, match three units, link archer formations, and see spearmen attack Cao Cao on a turn-based board.

Warlords: Clash of the Three Kingdoms Online by Nuttawut Wongprasopsuk is a three-unit lineup game that blends turn-based planning in a Three Kingdoms atmosphere. The creator states that it was inspired by Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes, incorporating formation arrangement tied to army preparation for battle.

Begin a match between Liu Bei and Cao Cao

We can access the Beginner-level Player vs AI mode via the web without registering an account. Liu Bei of the Shu Han faction fights Cao Cao of the Wei faction. Each board has eight columns and six rows. It starts with 14 regular troops and 30 commander health points per side. Regiment options are locked at this level.

Initial board for Liu Bei (Shu) and Cao Cao (Wei) in Beginner mode.
The starting screen shows both sides' units, an 8×6 board, and 30 health for each commander.

The battlefield displays two opposing armies facing each other. Commander information and health points are shown on the left side, while the remaining command count and the "End Turn" button are located below our army. Combat logs are provided at the bottom to review the outcomes of each movement.

Once three units are complete, wait for the right moment.

Movement begins by selecting a unit at the end of a column and sending it to a destination column. We tried moving three archer units from column F to column D in a vertical line; that group transforms into an attack formation and increments the counter waiting for three turns. Then, we arrange another set of spear units and archers to complete three commands in a single turn.

Moving three archer units from column F to D triggers an attack formation requiring a 3-turn wait.

Preparing two archer formations to attack together gives both a LINK bonus. Players must plan which troops belong in each column and whether supporting formations can attack at the same time.

The result of the formation appears in the next turn.

After handing the turn to AI and advancing to turn 3, the spearmen attacked automatically without extra commands. The combat log recorded 16 damage, leaving Cao Cao at 14 of 30 health. Both archer formations still had one turn to wait. The board and log make it clear how earlier orders take effect.

Liu Bei has two linked archer formations after spearmen reduce Cao Cao to 14 health.
At turn 3, the spearman auto-attacks, reducing Cao Cao's HP from 30 to 14, while two archer formations wait to fire.

The fun part of the early stages is preparing the formation beforehand and waiting for the timing of its attack, rather than moving and getting results immediately. Viewing the entire field and recording simultaneously on the long webpage requires scrolling. This test has not reached the end of the match, and does not cover Multiplayer, other generals, higher difficulty levels, or mobile controls.
